William Padilla

1923 - 2017

William Padilla, age 94, went to be with the Lord and his beautiful wife, Sophie G. Padilla, on November 19, 2017.

Bill was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Sophie and was a lifelong, active member of El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church. William and Sophie lived in Germany, Japan, and numerous cities throughout the United States while William served in the United States Army for 28 years, receiving numerous honorary medals, ribbons and awards for his service. Following his military career he served as Postal Examiner with the United States Postal Service.

He is survived by his children, William Daniel Padilla, Jr., David Lee Padilla and wife, Josie, Jeffrey Blas Padilla and wife, Lucia Debbie, and Sandra Gurule and husband, Mark; as well his sister-in-law, Isabel Padilla; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sophie G. Padilla; his brothers, Lawrence Padilla and Orlando Padilla; as well as his mother, Olympia Padilla.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 9:00 a.m., with a Memorial Service to follow at 10:00 a.m., at El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 700 Granite Ave NW. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church.
