We must remind politicians that WE have the votes!

“THE BILLIONAIRES have the money, but we have the votes.” That’s what you need to tell your senators and congressmen.

Why would Republican congressmen propose a tax bill that will give billions of dollars in tax dollars to billionaires like the Walton family while, in the long run, the bill will increase the financial burden on people like you and me? Well, how much in campaign contributions did you give politicians last year? How much do they expect to get from you next year for the 2018 election?

There is an old saying my mother used to tell me: “He who pays the piper names the tune.”

We can’t match the campaign contributions that the mega-rich give politicians. But we need to remind politicians that what really matters in an election is who has the votes. And we have the votes.

Is this tax bill fair and will it really help build our economy? Well, just ask yourself this: The Walton family makes about $5 billion a year. That’s about $2,500,000 an hour — $40,000 a second. How does that compare with what you make? Do you really think that the Walton family is so hurting financially that they need a $53 billion tax break?

Do you think it is fair to give huge tax breaks to billionaires? Do you think it will make our society better, fairer, more prosperous?

If not, call politicians across the country to tell them: “The billionaires have the money, but we have the votes.”
