North Carolina men pull away to beat Davidson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Joel Berry II had 27 points, and Luke Maye had 24 points and a career-high 17 rebounds as No. 13 North Carolina defeated Davidson 85-75 on Friday night.

Kenny Williams added 12 points for the Tar Heels (7-1), who shot 47 percent from the field and outrebound­ed Davidson 54-23.

Davidson (3-3) was led by 22 points and seven rebounds from Peyton Aldridge.

The Tar Heels blew open a fourpoint game midway through the second half with an 11-1 run led by Sterling Manley and Theo Pinson. No. 15 GONZAGA 91, No. 25

CREIGHTON 74: In Spokane, Wash., Killian Tillie scored 22 points and Zach Norvell Jr. added 21 points, all in the second half, as Gonzaga came back to beat Creighton.

Silas Melson also scored 21 points and Johnathan Williams added 15 for Gonzaga (7-1).

Marcus Foster had 21 points for Creighton (5-2), which has already beaten No. 20 Northweste­rn and No. 23 UCLA and lost to No. 22 Baylor this season.

Gonzaga shot better than 62 percent in the second half to erase a sevenpoint halftime deficit.

Gonzaga went on a 20-4 run to open the second half and built a 57-48 lead. Creighton had five turnovers during the run.

BOISE STATE 73, OREGON 70: In Eugene, Ore., Lexus Williams hit a 3-pointer from half-court at the buzzer to lift Boise State to a victory over Oregon and snap the nation’s longest home winning streak.

Payton Pritchard’s driving layup tied the score for the Ducks at 70 with 3.2 seconds to play before Williams let fly from the midcourt line at Matthew Knight Arena, where Oregon had won 46 games in a row.

Chandler Hutchison led the Broncos (7-1) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Zach Haney added 17 points and seven rebounds, and Justinian Jessup scored 15 points.

Pritchard topped the Ducks (5-3) with 28 points, one off his career high, and Elijah Brown scored 17.

Boise State had a 33-30 edge in rebounds. Keith Smith had five to lead Oregon, which was without its leading rebounder, freshman Troy Brown, because of concussion protocol. ADAMS STATE 85, NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS 82: In Las Vegas, N.M., Jordan Jones scored 18 points for the Cowboys in their loss to Adams State.

ADAMS STATE 63: In Las Vegas, N.M., Brianna Stewart scored 20 points to lead NMHU to a win over Adams State.
