HOLIDAY WILD! FUNDRAISER FOR WILDLIFE RESCUE INC.

OF NEW MEXICO, Animals, Art and more. Live falcons, hawks and owls will be hosting this year’s Holiday Wild! at Wildlife Rescue Inc. of New Mexico (WLI) on Dec. 2 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The event will be held at WLI’s rescue center on the grounds of the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park, 2900 Candelaria NW, Albuquerqu­e. In addition to the birds, there will a raffle for wildlife art, crafts and food for sale and activities for the kids. The even is free, but there is a $3 fee for parking at the Nature Center. TEAM, a fundraisin­g and awareness campaign for mental illness is seeking volunteers. Some positions available are Family Team Chair; Business Team Chair; Marketing & Publicity Chair and Core Team. PAWS THRIFT STORE, a local nonprofit project of Cottonwood Cats Sanctuary is seeking volunteers to work in three- or fourhour shifts in the store located near Menaul and Washington. Proceeds from the thrift store support a planned sanctuary (permanent home) for cats who outlived their human caretakers/ owners. This sanctuary will also provide a permanent home for geriatric cats who have failed to be adopted at other local shelters. ALBUQUERQU­E READS is a literacy developmen­t program and is looking for volunteers to tutor kindergart­en students in the morning for about 1½ hours, 1-3 times per week. Volunteers must pass an APS background check and go through a short training. We have immediate openings on Mondays and Wednesdays at Atrisco Elementary. SILVER HORIZONS, a local, nonprofit organizati­on dedicated to helping low-income seniors in Bernalillo, Sandoval and Valencia counties, is seeking volunteers. Volunteers are needed to help distribute free groceries at their Senior Food Markets and deliver to homebound seniors. Each month, Silver Horizons provides free groceries to more than 2,000 seniors, and almost 900 grandchild­ren many of these seniors are raising. A variety of days and times are available. AARP TAX-AIDE, needs volunteers to help low- and moderatein­come taxpayers during 2018. Free training is available during December and early January. Basic computer skills are needed for most positions. Volunteers are asked to work at least onehalf day per week during February through mid-April at near-by senior centers and community centres. AARP Tax-Aide is an all-volunteer tax preparatio­n service supported by the nonprofit AARP Foundation and the Internal Revenue Service.
