“Longmire” may be over, but Lou Diamond Phillips is coming back to New Mexico.

Phillips is filming the movie “Big Kill,” which is underway in Santa Fe.

According to the New Mexico Film Office, the production will have 40 New Mexico crew members, 30 to 40 New Mexico principal actors and about 50 background talent workers.

“Our incredible landscapes and robust talent pool have long made New Mexico a premier location for filming Westerns,” Film Office Director Nick Maniatis said. “New Mexico’s powerful film incentive and extensive film infrastructure are making our state an even better location for films like these.”

“Big Kill” is the story of a tenderfoot from Philadelphia, two misfit gamblers on the run and a deadly preacher who have a date with destiny in a boomtown gone bust called Big Kill.

The West is reborn in this classic morality tale of good versus evil.

Starring alongside Phillips is Danny Trejo, Christoph Sanders, Clint Hummel, Elizabeth McLaughlin, Stephanie Beran, KC Clyde and Michael Paré.

According to the Film Office, production will take place through mid-December.

Michael Slifkin is producing for Archstone Pictures from a script written by Scott Martin.

The film is set for an early summer 2018 theatrical release.
