- CATCHES OF THE WEEK AROUND THE STATE

Jessica Pargament of Raton caught a 20-inch rainbow trout Monday at Lake Maloya. She was using yellow PowerBait.

Andrew Black of Santa Fe caught and released a 38-inch northern pike Sunday on the Rio Grande. He was fly fishing and using a bunny streamer. Aaron Suazo caught a 22-inch rainbow trout Nov. 27 at Heron Lake. He was using a white shad swim bait.

SAN JUAN RIVER: A river enhancemen­t project will begin on Dec. 15 from the Simon Point Day-Use Area downriver to the Crusher Hole Day-Use Area. ISLETA LAKES: Fishing at Isleta at both SUNRISE and TURTLE LAKES is very good for trout. Best baits are salmon eggs, PowerBait and worms. NOTES from GAME & FISH: Fishing at TINGLEY BEACH’S Youth and Central ponds continued to be very good as anglers did very well using PowerBait, salmon eggs, mop flies, Pistol Petes, woolly buggers and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs for trout. Fishing at the Bob Gerding Catch and Release Pond was good using small leech patterns, San Juan worms, small midge patterns and custom tied mop flies for trout. Fishing in the ALBUQUERQU­E, ALBUQUERQU­E SOUTY, BERNALILLO and PERALTA DRAINS was good using worms, PowerBait, Fire Balls and custom tied nymphs for trout.

At MANZANO LAKE, fishing was fair to good using garlic PowerBait, Gulp eggs, salmon egg corn combinatio­ns, salmon eggs and worms for trout.

Fishing at EAGLE NEST LAKE was good using PowerBait and spinners for rainbow trout up to 23 inches long.

At MONASTERY LAKE, fishing was good using PowerBait, worms and Fire Balls for trout.

Monday morning water flows on the CHAMA RIVER below El Vado and Abiquiu were 591 cfs and 940 cfs respective­ly. Fishing above El Vado was fair to good using bead-head nymphs, PowerBait and worms for brown and rainbow trout. Fishing below El Vado was good using woolly buggers, Kastmaster­s, Rapalas, night crawlers and Fire Balls for brown and rainbow trout.

Stream flow on the SAN JUAN RIVER on Monday morning was 369 cfs. Fly fishing action through the quality waters was good for anglers using rootbeers, brassies, small fluff baetis, crystal flash emergers, RS2, comparadun­s, red larva, parachute adams and small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs. Trout fishing through the bait waters was fair using salmon eggs, PowerBait, worms, prince nymphs, copper John Barrs, bead-head pheasant tail nymphs and jerk baits.

Fishing at JACKSON LAKE was good using small PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

At ELEPHANT BUTTE LAKE, fishing was good using cut bait, live bait, night crawlers, liver and homemade dough baits for catfish.

Fishing at BLUEWATER LAKE was fair to good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout.

Stream flow on the JEMEZ RIVER near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 21.1 cfs. Fishing on the Jemez was fair using copper John Barrs, Fire Balls and worms for trout.

At GREENE ACRES LAKE, fishing was very good using spinners, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

Fishing at OASIS PARK LAKE was very good using salmon eggs and salmon peach and garlic PowerBait for trout.
