If you want to gripe, grouse, whine or bellyache about a generic topic, submit your message at www. abqjournal.com/letters/speakup. The same goes if you want to dish out praise or thanks. Either way, you have to do it in 50 words or less. You can’t identify anyone you criticize. Keep it clean. No cursing, please. We don’t need your name, just initials. And it’s cheaper than therapy.
OUR CITY pays out millions to undeserving families of criminals who lost their lives committing crimes. Yet, we can’t take care of our officers who are hurt in the line of duty. Let’s get our priorities right. DKL ECONOMICS AND climate change. Trump administration refuses the best science available and forgets the past, condemned to repeat, worse. Making corporations richer has never made the rest of the country prosperous; it just made union dues a necessary evil. Taxation without representation is back, folks. The emperor has no clothes. JC

IT LOOKS like the tax-cut giveaway for the wealthy and corporations is going to pass. A prophecy for 2018: The Republicans are going to have an OMG moment about the deficit and now we have to cut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security to close the “hole”! IT’S SAD that Isaac Padilla and Martin Jim were shot by police. The mother says it was so wrong. But wait, what’s the whole story? Why was this group of four young men out at 3:45 a.m., in a stolen truck, running from police? We read stories like this almost daily and that is SO WRONG! ALM PERHAPS EVERYONE, not just law enforcement officers, should be required to wear a lapel camera. Ridiculous, right? Yes, but is it any more ridiculous than
an officer being required to announce that he will draw his weapon on a violent and unpredictable perpetrator? Law enforcement officers must have some authority; otherwise they are nothing but mall cops. HLL THERE IS good news and bad news in Rio Rancho. The good news is the city employs speed enforcement vans. The bad news is drivers think they must drive 10 to 15 mph below the speed limit to avoid being cited. GGS
SO, SHERIFF Manny Gonzalez won’t allow his officers to wear body cams because “the video is unfairly used to criticize law enforcement officers.” That’s a crock of crap and everyone knows it. If anything, when the officer is doing his job the video will reflect that, if not then that’s all on him. Sounds like Manny has taken a page from President Trump’s “fake
news” playbook. Like Bugs bunny said, “Wotta maroon.” WL
I’M CONFUSED. I have heard many “good” Catholics expressing their dismay over the atheist, communist, liberal, un-American billboard that is displayed in our city. Yet, these same “good” Catholics go into the voting booth every election and vote for unlimited, no-restriction abortions. Is their something I don’t know? At least the billboard does no harm to anyone. RDH
MRJ MISSED the point of the comments concerning socialized medicine vs. our defense budget. The reason that “every other civilized nation” can pay for universal health care is that the United States military has their backs. If those nations had to spend what it costs us to defend them they would not be able to afford all of the

BECAUSE THERE was no ability to get manned rockets to N.M., Cape Canaveral was chosen? How about not launching lethal rockets over inhabited land mass? Besides the rocket parts hitting the earth, there is also gaseous effluents to consider. Ergo, the Cape was chosen for such launches. N.M. is good for sounding rockets, as it has been for decades. I WAS impressed with the show of motorcycle parades for fallen police and fire officers until I found out that the “mourners” actually get paid overtime. You’d think they would do it just out of respect. JB
