Speak out on Tax Scam!

WE APPRECIATE the Journal’s recent coverage of the GOP tax bill debacle describing in some detail its many horrible aspects. The Tax Scam is widely unpopular, perhaps temporarily helpful to a small percentage of Americans, but ultimately harmful to most. It will add at least $1 trillion to the national debt while enabling a massive transfer of wealth to the superrich with unrealistic and unlikely jobcreation effects. The notion of trickle-down economics is a myth.

What is missing is the fact that the tax bill fundamentally represents fraud and corruption in American politics. Billionaires have donated hundreds of millions of dollars to the Republicans in exchange for a tax bill that will reap billions of dollars back to them in tax benefits. If this is not technically bribery, it is awfully close. The Republicans have bought and sold America at the expense of the middle class, the environment, truth and integrity.

We appreciate the Democratic members of our New Mexico delegation standing strong against this corruption, and especially thank Rep. Ben Ray Luján for speaking out at the Trump Tax Scam Rally on Nov. 27 at Bataan Park in Albuquerque. Citizen outrage and activism against what the Trump administration and the GOP Congress are doing are currently our only hope. We urge our fellow New Mexicans to get involved and never give up!
