HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS
Gingerbread House Contest, benefit concert on tap
Ceekay Jones has a symbiotic relationship with New Mexico.
It’s not only home for the musician, but it’s a point of inspiration for him. “Being back home allows me to meet new people,” he says. “It’s been cool to see the local music scene thriving.”
Jones, who was raised in Taos, left for California more than a decade ago.
He has been successful in his music career.
And the change of pace is a welcome one.
“I’m back in my roots,” he says. “I feel myself growing as an artist. My older brother has joined me for a couple shows, and eventually I’ll make my way to having a full band.”
In addition to playing local gigs, Jones is preparing a new album to be released on Feb. 28.
The third single, “I Don’t Know,” was released in the past two weeks.
Jones will perform at Duel Brewing in Downtown Albuquerque tonight. To read more, see Page 22.
With the holiday season upon us, staff writer Rozanna M. Martinez has the details on some fun events coming up.
The first is the Pueblo Gingerbread House Contest at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. Visitors can view the creative treats through the new year. To read more, see Pages 14-15.
Martinez also has details on the Adult Coloring Night with local artists Jon Sanchez and Jeremy Montoya on Wednesday, Dec. 20. The two created some art for eventgoers to color. To read more, see Page 12.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, there’s a chance to see local musicians coming together for to benefit Albuquerque. The Howlin Holiday Jam will feature the likes of Red Light Cameras. I caught up with guest artist Kebbi Williams of Atlanta on why he flies into the city to play the show annually. To read more, see Page 21.
Of course, it’s mid-December, and fans have been waiting for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which opens today nationwide. We have a review on Page 4.
