No. 5 Stanford has no trouble with UNLV

McCants’ double-double helps Eastern NM earn come-from-behind win

STANFORD, Calif. — Kiana Williams scored 14 points with three 3-pointers and No. 18 Stanford rolled to a 74-33 win over UNLV on Saturday.

Alanna Smith and Maya Dodson added 11 points for the Cardinal (6-4), which was coming off a two-week break for finals.

Anna Wilson and Williams hit back-to-back 3-pointers as Stanford scored the first 10 points of the game. Leading 17-10 after one quarter, the Cardinal limited UNLV to a Brooke Johnson 3-pointer in the middle of the second quarter to take a 35-13 lead at the half. Again Wilson and Williams made back-to-back treys that opened the second quarter, and Williams had a 3-pointer and a 3-point play in an 8-0 run that closed the half.

Stanford made five 3s in 10 tries and shot 56 percent in the first half while UNLV shot 19 percent (6 of 32) after making just 1 of 20 shots in the second quarter. The 33-point total and three-point second quarter are the best for the Stanford defense this season.

UNLV (5-4), which got 19 points from Johnson, finished at 23 percent (14 of 62), making just three of 19 3s. It was the Lady Rebels’ worst shooting and scoring game of the season.

No. 10 WEST VIRGINIA 75, RADFORD 55: In Charleston, W.Va., Naomi Davenport scored 20 points to lead West Virginia to a victory over Radford. The Mountainee­rs improved to 10-0 for the second straight season.

Teana Muldrow, the nation’s sixth-leading scorer at 23.2 points per game, added 12 points and 13 rebounds for West Virginia. Kristina King and Katrina Pardee had 11 points apiece.

Khiana Johnson led Radford (4-4) with 17 points.

No. 17 OREGON STATE 74, UCSB 59: In Portland, Ore., Aleah Goodman had 17 points for Oregon State in a victory over UC Santa Barbara in the Dam City Classic at Portland’s Moda Center.

It was the fifth straight win for the Beavers (7-2), who got 14 points from Kat Tudor. Tal Sahar led the Gauchos (1-8) with 11 points and seven rebounds.

NO. 21 GREEN BAY 72, BRADLEY 40: In Green Bay, Wis., Karly Murphy scored a career-high 18 points, Allie LeClaire added 15 and Green Bay defeated Bradley.

Frankie Wurtz added 12 points off the bench for the Phoenix (9-1), which won its fourth straight. Both Murphy and LeClaire were 7-of-10 from the field as Green Bay shot 54 percent (27 of 50), including 6-of-14 on 3-pointers.

Shunseere Kent had 12 points for the Braves (5-4).

NO. 23 MICHIGAN 77, FORT WAYNE 45: In Ann Arbor, Mich., Katelynn Flaherty scored 21 points, Hallie Thome added 18 and Michigan cruised to its sixth straight victory.

The Wolverines (10-2) scored the first 10 points and led 21-2 after the first quarter. Jaelencia Williams had 13 points for Fort Wayne (3-8).

No. 24 CALIFORNIA 70, BYU 45: In Berkeley, Calif., Mikayla Cowling scored 13 of her 21 points in the first half and California (8-2) routed BYU (4-6) for its fifth straight win.

Cassie Broadhead Devashraye­e scored 10 points to lead BYU.

ENMU 52, ST. MARY’S-SAN ANTONIO 45: In San Antonio, Texas, Daeshi McCants posted 14 points and 14 rebounds as the Greyhounds (5-5) rallied from an eight-point deficit to beat the Rattlers (5-8).

BENEDICTIN­E-MESA 90, WNMU 63: In Phoenix, Emily Moore scored 31 points and the Redhawks (6-5) defeated the Mustangs. Ciara Fields scored 14 points for WNMU (0-11).

COLORADO MESA 60, NMHU 38: In Grand Junction, Colo., Jaylyn Duran scored 18 points and the Mavericks (10-2, 4-2 RMAC) defeated the Cowgirls (4-7, 2-4). Ari Baca led Highlands with 15 points.

NMSU: The Aggies (3-6) will try to get back on a winning track when they visit Pepperdine (4-5) for a 2 p.m. start today. Junior Brooke Salas leads NMSU in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.6 and 7.9 per game, respective­ly.
