NEW MEXICO MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY & SCIENCE will be hosting “Da VinciThe Genius,” a traveling exhibit, from February-July 2018 and is in need of friendly and positive volunteers to staff the exhibit. Volunteers will provide outstandin­g customer service by greeting guests, taking tickets, and interpreti­ng exhibit informatio­n. Volunteers are needed seven days a week and must commit to a minimum of three shifts a month. Volunteers must complete a short training. VALENCIA COUNTY is currently looking for foster homes. You provide the care, HART pays for all the food and expenses involved in the maintenanc­e of all foster animals. Foster homes can be located in either Valencia or Bernalillo counties. In addition, HART is always in need of volunteers to help care for cats and kittens up for adoption during the week at the PetCo on Lomas and Eubank, and at the PetSmart located at I-25 and Montgomery. AARP TAX-AIDE needs volunteers to help low and moderate income taxpayers during 2018. Free training is available during early January. Basic computer skills are needed for most positions. Volunteers are asked to work at least one-half day per week during February through mid-April at near-by senior centers and community centres. AARP Tax-Aide is an all-volunteer tax preparatio­n service supported by the nonprofit AARP Foundation and the Internal Revenue Service. PAWS THRIFT STORE, a local nonprofit project of Cottonwood Cats Sanctuary, is seeking volunteers to work in three-or fourhour shifts in the store located near Menaul and Washington. Proceeds from the thrift store support a planned sanctuary (permanent home) for cats who outlived their human caretakers/owners. THE NEW MEXICO JAZZ WORKSHOP: a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is looking for an office volunteer(s) for two days per week. Ideal candidate will be computer savvy and familiar with databases. Primary duties include membership reminders and updates; assistance with annual membership drives and tracking end of year donations; keeping membership database current, with the ability to create tailored reports; pulling down and tracking e-donations; and updating online community event calendars. Other tasks include assistance with prepping for summer concert series and annual fundraiser. Will train the right candidate(s). Work days are flexible, but commitment is important. WINGS FOR LIFE INTERNATIO­NAL: L.I.F.E. (Life-skills Imparted to Families through Education) is seeking donations to fund and volunteers for the weekly program. Volunteers provide an entree, fruit/vegetable or dessert. Wings’ mission is to transform lives to break the generation­al cycle of incarcerat­ion. Wings provides a free dinner and then speakers who are experts in their fields teach about jobs, money, parenting and issues unique to incarcerat­ion. STOREHOUSE WEST serves a steady population of seniors and families who don’t have the financial wherewitha­l to purchase regular food items. Seniors and families each receive 35-100 lbs of food at an average cost to the pantry of $25 per household. Over 343,000 pounds of food has been distribute­d.
