No. 2 Louisville women rip Irish

Clovis grad stars in Texas A&M win

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Asia Durr scored 36 points and Myisha Hines-Allen had a career-high 31 as No. 3 Louisville overwhelme­d No. 2 Notre Dame on both ends for a 10067 blowout victory Thursday night in an Atlantic Coast Conference showdown.

The Cardinals (19-0, 5-0 ACC) erased an early deficit to dominate the short-handed Irish during a marquee matchup between top teams. Louisville went on to the program’s biggest win since beating No. 1 seed Baylor in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.(15-2, 4-1 ACC). Notre Dame is 15-2, 4-1. Playing before a crowd of 12,614, Durr set the tone with three first-quarter 3-pointers and eight overall in shooting 13-for-18 from the field. No. 4 MISS. STATE 76, OLE

MISS 45: In Starkville, Teaira McCowan had 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead Mississipp­i State over Mississipp­i.

McCowan shot 12-for-13 from the field and added four blocks for the Bulldogs (18-0, 4-0 SEC) The Rebels are 11-6, 1-3.

Mississipp­i State jumped out to a 14-0 lead in less than five minutes, getting two 3-pointers from Blair Schaefer.

No. 17 TEXAS A&M 79, No. 6 TENNESSEE 76: In College Station, Texas, former Clovis High star Danni Williams scored seven points in overtime as the Aggies (14-4, 3-1 SEC) handed the Lady Vols (15-1, 3-1) their first defeat.

Williams made all five of her attempts from the line in overtime, including when she was fouled on a 3-point attempt with the Aggies trailing 76-74 and 7.8 seconds remaining. She and teammate Khaalia Hillsman had a game-high 22 points. Mercedes Russell led the Lady Vols (15-1, 3-1) with 21.

No. 9 SOUTH CAROLINA 71, AUBURN 63: In Columbia, S.C., A’ja Wilson had 19 points and 11 rebounds before leaving with a right-ankle injury with 16 seconds left in the win by South Carolina (14-2, 3-1 SEC) over Auburn (10-6, 1-3).

Wilson was a force with her 12th double-double this season and, in the first quarter, became the third player in team history to reach 2,000 career points. But she came down hard under her own basket in the final seconds and hobbled over to the corner of the court. Team trainers helped her off and she went right to the locker room.

NEW MEXICO STATE 64, GRAND CANYON 60: In Las Cruces, Brooke Salas scored 16 points and Gia Pack had 12 rebounds to lead NMSU (8-8, 2-0 WAC) past the Antelopes (7-9, 1-1) at the Pan Am Center.

The Aggies squandered a 10-point second-period lead before rallying to stay unbeaten in league play.

EASTERN NM 57, CAMERON 53: In Lawton, Okla., Dasia Johnson’s shot with 2:35 left in the fourth quarter gave ENMU the lead for good en route to a Lone Star Conference win over Cameron 5-10, 3-4.

Mikaehla Coonor led the Greyhounds (8-6, 4-3 LSC) in scoring with 16 points.

MIDWESTERN STATE 64, WESTERN NM 47: In Wichita Falls, Texas, the Mustangs remained winless in a loss to Midwestern State (8-5, 5-2 Lone Star). Ciara Fields had a teambest 16 points and 14 rebounds for Western (0-15, 0-7).

Men

No. 5 WICHITA STATE 95, EAST CAROLINA 60: In Greenville, N.C., Rauno Nurger scored 14 points as Wichita State rolled past East Carolina.

Shaquille Morris added 12 points for the Shockers (14-2), who improved to 4-0 in their first season in AAC play.

ECU is 7-9, 1-4. OREGON 76, No. 11 ARIZ. STATE 72: In Tempe, Ariz., Payton Pritchard scored 18 points and hit two free throws with 13.8 seconds left to help Oregon hold off Arizona State.

The Ducks (12-5, 2-2 Pac-12) used a late spurt to go up eight points and hit four free throws in the final 32 seconds to earn their biggest win of the season. No. 15 GONZAGA 103, PORTLAND 57: In Spokane, Wash., Silas Melson scored a career-high 23 points as Gonzaga (15-3, 5-0 West Coast) routed Portland (6-12, 0-5). No. 17 ARIZONA 62, OREGON STATE 53: In Tucson, Allonzo Trier scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half as Arizona pulled away late to beat Oregon State.

Deandre Ayton had 14 points for the UA (13-4, 3-1 Pac-12). Tres Tinkle scored 18 points for the Beavers (10-6, 2-2). N.C. STATE 78, No. 19 CLEMSON 77: In Raleigh, N.C., Omer Yurtseven scored a careerhigh 29 points as NCSU beat Clemson after Gabe DeVoe missed the third of three free throws with 0.2 seconds left that would have forced OT.

Allerik Freeman had 14 points for NCSU (12-5, 2-2 ACC). Marcquise Reed scored 17 points for Clemson (14-2, 3-1). EASTERN NM 70, CAMERON 67: In Lawton, Okla., the Greyhounds (7-8, 2-4 Lone Star) rallied in the final 22 seconds to beat Aggies (5-11, 1-6).

Trailing 67-64, Eastern’s Arcaim Lallemand, who had a game-high 20 points, hit two free throws. A second later with 0:21 showing, Lallemand got the rebound of the second straight missed free throw by Cameron. That led to a goahead layup by Lamarquis Thompson and two clinching free throws by Thompson with a second left. MIDWESTERN STATE 89, WESTERN NM 79: In Wichita Falls, Texas, Jordan Enriquez had 15 points as the Mustangs (3-12, 0-6 Lone Star) lost to Midwestern (5-11, 2-5).
