Ready for release

Years of hard work has been put in.

Now the movers and shakers behind the web series “Thank You, 5” are upping the ante.

The 11 full episodes will air at 4 p.m. Thursdays on Facebook. After each episode will be a Facebook Live discussion with members of the production beginning at 6 p.m.

“I think the idea was that we wanted to release it on Facebook so we can reach the widest audience,” says Keagan Karnes, a producer on the series. “We built a large of enough fan base.”

“Thank You, 5” takes place in a community theater.

It follows the cast and crew of the theater and all the trials and tribulations that take place in day-today operations.

The main story follows a writer and director duo who have moved back to New Mexico after having a successful career in New York City. The pair will do anything to put on a proper “homecoming” show.

“It’s an ‘Office’-style mockumentary,” Karnes says.

The cast and crew filmed at Albuquerque Little Theatre. It stars Peter Diseth, Hannah Kauffmann, David House, Tabitha Shaun and David Devereaux.

Production was completed about a year ago, though post production was completed late 2017.

“It was a massive undertaking,” Karnes says. “We’ve been prepping the release of the show since September.”

A few episodes have aired on Facebook, and Karnes says it’s finding a new audience.

“This is a very niche show,” he says. “Those who love community theater are the base audience. The show is comedy as well. We’ve been over the moon with our engagement and it being a longer-form piece. Facebook is really helping out with our experiment.”

Karnes says it’s a tossup for a second season of the series.

“We’d love to do this full time and dedicate all of our time to the series,” he says. “We do have other projects like commercials that take a lot of our time. It’s a balance to get everything in order. We also did the first season on a shoestring budget. For a second season, we’d have to look at ways to raise all the funds prior to beginning production. That would help take a lot of pressure off. If an opportunity presented itself for a second season, we’d definitely look into it.”
