ABQ offers sessions on development ordinance rewrite

The city of Albuquerque has scheduled a series of educational sessions on the new Integrated Development Ordinance, which goes into effect on May 17.

The IDO, a rewrite of land use, zoning, and planning regulations, was passed by the City Council late last year. The educational sessions are intended to help residents and property owners understand how the new rules may affect them.

City staff also will have weekly office hours for those who cannot make it to one of the group meetings or for those with detailed questions about a specific property, according to a news release from the city.

The interactive training sessions, offered every Friday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., began last week and continue through Feb. 23 in the basement hearing room of the Planning Department, 600 2nd NW. After each session, there will be a “study hall” with staff from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. to address more detailed zoning questions.

There will be a special Spanish-language session on Feb. 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Coronado Elementary School, 601 4th SW. To speak with someone in Spanish about the meeting, call Catalina Lehner at 505-924-3935.

Also, evening meetings for the general public, neighborhood associations, business owners, nonprofit groups and other stakeholders will be offered in each of the city’s 12 Community Planning Areas. A Spanish-language interpreter will be available at each CPA training session.
