Mrazek stymies Blue Jackets in his debut in Flyers’ net

PHILADELPH­IA — Nolan Patrick scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and Petr Mrazek made 19 saves in his Philadelph­ia debut, leading the streaking Flyers to a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.

Claude Giroux had a goal and an assist and Shayne Gostisbehe­re added two assists for the Flyers, who won their fourth straight game while improving to 8-0-2 in the last 10. The Flyers (32-19-10) are tied with Pittsburgh one point behind first-place Washington in the Metropolit­an Division.

Artemi Panarin scored for Columbus

Mrazek was acquired in a trade with Detroit on Monday night. Philadelph­ia needed a goalie after backup Michal Neuvirth went down with a lowerbody injury Sunday that will keep him out four to six weeks. Regular starter Brian Elliott already was out with a lowerbody injury that will sideline him for five more weeks.

PANTHERS 3, CAPITALS 2: In Sunrise, Fla., Vincent Trocheck scored the winning goal with 19.1 seconds left to lift Florida over Washington.

With the score tied at 2, Trocheck redirected a shot by Jonathan Huberdeau past goaltender Braden Holtby during a power play.

OILERS 3, AVALANCHE 2 (OT): Glendale, Ariz., Jon Gillies rebounded from a first-minute goal to make 35 saves in his first NHL start of the season, helping Calgary beat Arizona.

Johnny Gaudreau had a goal and two assists, Sean Monahan added a goal and an assist, and Sam Bennett, Mark Jankowski and Matthew Tkachuk also scored. LIGHTNING 4, SENATORS 3:

In Ottawa, Nikita Kucherov had two assists to reach 80 points this season as Tampa Bay defeated Ottawa.

Tyler Johnson, Victor Hedman, Vladislav Namestniko­v and Brayden Point scored for the Lightning, which leapfrogge­d expansion Vegas to regain the top spot in the overall NHL standings with 85 points.

PREDATORS 7, SHARKS 1: In Nashville, Tenn., Pekka Rinne made 33 saves in his 300th career win as Nashville routed San Jose.

CANADIENS 3, RANGERS 1: In Montreal, Antti Niemi made 31 saves as Montreal beat New York to snap its six-game losing streak. SABRES 3, RED WINGS 2 (OT): In Detroit, Marco Scandella scored with a second left in overtime, lifting Buffalo to a win over Detroit.

MAPLE LEAFS 4, ISLANDERS 3 (SO): In Toronto, Tyler Bozak scored the shootout winner as Toronto edged New York.
