Timothy J. Fogarty, 60, Bayfield, Colorado, formerly of Corrales, New Mexico, died February 24, 2018 with family and friends at his bedside.

Tim was born June 23, 1957 in Breckenrid­ge, Minnesota to Raymond and Catherine (Pearman) Fogarty. He was the sixth of 14 children and grew up helping on the grain and dairy farm of his parents. Through his mother he was a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.

Tim graduated from Lidgerwood High School, Lidgerwood, North Dakota. He attended the University of North Dakota, where he played football and majored in industrial technology. After graduation he worked at various constructi­on firms around the country as an estimator and constructi­on manager.

In 1993 Tim was blessed with a daughter, Megan West-Fogarty. In 1997 Tim married Krista Hanson in Lyons, Colorado. Together they had one daughter, Saige Hanson-Fogarty. Tim was a devoted family man and shared his love of the outdoors and cooking with his daughters.

In 2005 he opened his own constructi­on firm, Saigan Constructi­on Inc., in Corrales, New Mexico. The name was formed from a combinatio­n of the names of his two beloved daughters, Saige and Megan. In 2010 he was named New Mexico Minority Small Business Person of the Year by the New Mexico District Office of the Small Business Administra­tion and his company was named 2010 Outstandin­g Minority-Owned Business of the Year by the New Mexico Native American Business Enterprise Center.

Tim closed his business and retired in 2013. The family moved to Durango, Colorado. Throughout his life Tim was an avid mountain biker and skier and was able to spend more time pursuing these activities while living in Durango. He also enjoyed gardening and used many of the vegetables and herbs he grew in his cooking. His family and friends enjoyed eating the delicious food he prepared. He also loved to travel and enjoyed going to music festivals in the Colorado area. He will be remembered as a person who enjoyed life and was fun to be around. Many times Tim was the the one who initiated activities, often getting his friends up early to get going on the days adventure.

Tim is survived by his wife, Krista; daughters, Megan and Saige; and by his siblings Theresa (Gordon) Murray, James, Mary (Vernal) Donnell, Michael (Becky), Anne (Adrian) Biewer, Michelle Fogarty, Joan (Jay) Fossum, Jonathon (Paula), Rita Nelson, Carolyn (Dean) Haase, Alan (Stephanie); and multiple nieces and nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond (November 6, 1993) and Catherine (August 22, 2017); siblings, Dan Fogarty (July 4, 1977) and Patricia Fogarty (November 29, 2006); and niece, Courtney Haase (September 15, 2005).

A Memorial to celebrate Tim’s life will be held at Animas Brewing Co., 1560 E. 2nd Ave on Sunday March 4, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mercy Hospice House C/O Mercy Health Foundation, 1010 Three Springs Blvd., Durango CO 81301-9971.
