Michigan makes it two Big Ten titles in a row

NEW YORK — Zavier Simpson was a catalyst on both ends of the floor, running Michigan’s efficient offense and leading its lock-down defense, and the No. 15 Wolverines beat No. 8 Purdue 75-66 on Sunday to repeat as Big Ten Tournament champion.

Isaac Haas led Purdue (28-6) with 23 points. No. 10 CINCINNATI 62, No. 11

WICHITA STATE 61: In Wichita, Kan., Jacob Evans scored 19 points and the Bearcats (27-4, 16-2) beat the Shockers to wrap up the American Athletic Conference title. Wichita State (246, 14-4) needed a victory to share the conference title. No. 25 HOUSTON 81, UCONN

71: In Houston, Rob Gray scored 30 points and the Cougars (24-6, 14-4 American Athletic) held off the Huskies (14-17, 14-4 ). Women No. 8 SOUTH CAROLINA 61, NO. 2 MISSISSIPP­I STATE 51: In Nashville, Tenn., A’ja Wilson helped the Gamecocks (26-6) become the first Southeaste­rn Conference women’s program to win four consecutiv­e tournament titles, snapping the nation’s longest winning streak at 32 with an upset of the Bulldogs (32-1).

South Carolina beat the Bulldogs last April for the program’s first national championsh­ip. No. 1 UCONN 82, TULANE 56: In Uncasville, Conn., Katie Lou Samuelson scored 21 points to lead the Huskies (30-0) to a rout of the Green Wave (1417) in the quarterfin­als of the American Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Huskies saw two players leave the game with injuries. Crystal Dangerfiel­d scored 14 points before going down with a right ankle injury in the third quarter. All-American Gabby Williams also suffered what appeared to be a leg injury and left the game before halftime. Both players returned from the locker room to the bench, but stayed there. NOTRE DAME 72: In Greensboro, N.C., Sam Fuehring converted a key three-point play in the final minute, helping the Cardinals (32-3) beat the Irish (20-3) for their first Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament title.

No. 20 SOUTH FLORIDA 80, EAST CAROLINA 44: In Uncasville, Conn., Maria Jespersen scored 23 points and the Bulls (25-6) routed the Pirates (16-15) in the American Athletic Conference quarterfin­als. STATE 53: In Asheville, N.C., Kahlia Lawrence scored 29 points and the Bears (30-2) beat ETSU (20-11) in the Southern Conference championsh­ip to earn their first NCAA berth at the Division I level.
