John M. Humphrey
John "Jacko" M. Humphrey was diagnosed with stage IV oropharyngeal cancer in October of 2017 and died from treatment complications on February 23rd, 2018. He is survived by Louise, his bride and love of his life of 33 years; and their children, John and Amanda Humphrey, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Cary, Lucia, Elizabeth and Blakeslee, whom he loved dearly; his father, John M. Humphrey III; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Heffelfinger Humphrey.
Jacko was a constant source of love and laughter and he took immense pleasure in making others laugh. His greatest joy was simply spending time with friends and family over a great meal and engaging in witty conversation. He was a voracious reader and an avid student of history. He especially loved the Civil War period, visiting battle sites and sharing in-depth conversations on battle tactics. His passion was fly fishing and he found every opportunity he could to bring those he cared about with him to his favorite streams throughout New Mexico and Colorado. He served on numerous non-profit boards, was a volunteer firefighter, baseball coach and umpire and was an avid supporter of community service.
A memorial service is being planned and will be announced in the very near future. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any gifts be made to the Research and Education Foundation of the American Head and Neck Society:
