Shooting witnesses sought

-

Detectives are looking for additional witnesses to a deadly shooting at Tower Pond Park earlier this month.

Officer Simon Drobik of the Albuquerque Police Department said they want to speak with anyone who was at the park in Southwest Albuquerque before or during the shooting on March 1. He said this will strengthen the case police are building.

Two teenagers have been arrested in the shooting that left Larry DeSantiago, 25, dead. Santiago Armijo, 15, is charged with murder and is being tried as adult, and Jeremiah De La Pena, 16, is charged with larceny of a firearm and tampering with evidence. De La Pena will be tried in children’s court.

Drobik said they were greeted by a chaotic scene after the shooting and hope to talk with any additional witnesses they can.

“There was a soccer game that we know of that was going on,” he said. “We know there were people in the park.”

Police ask anyone with information about the case to contact Crime Stoppers at 843-STOP.
