While kids are off from school, the museum will host a Ballooning for All rally and activities day.

The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum will host two special events as part of its nine-day Rise and Try Week featuring familyfriendly activities and programs coinciding with spring break for local schools beginning this weekend.

On Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m. there will be a free Ballooning for All rally, weather permitting, for people of all abilities and special needs. This event will take place on the balloon museum’s expansive and scenic north grounds and will feature more than 12 hot air balloons.

Balloon inflations, crewing, and tethered rides will take place in the morning, and wheelchairaccessible gondolas will be on site. Later, visitors can enjoy a breakfast tailgate festival, food trucks, music, activities and community resource booths, and special appearances by Special Orchestra and Keshet Inclusion dance, organizers said in a news release. The event also helps celebrate World Down Syndrome Day, and people are encouraged to donate a new baby blanket.

Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., is Spring Break Family Day, featuring kites, balloons, bubbles, gliders, entertainment, golf discs, butterflies and hands-on art stations.

Visitors can bring their own kites or purchase one in the museum shop, organizers said.

In addition, guests can bring a picnic or enjoy food truck fare. Entry to all activities is included with payment of regular balloon museum admission fees.

Details about both events, as well as other Rise and Try Week activities, can be found at cabq.gov/culturalservices/balloonmuseum.
