It is with great sadness that the Family of Porfirio “Rudy” Martinez announces the passing of their beloved father, grandfathe­r, great grandfathe­r, greatgreat grandfathe­r, brother, and uncle on Wednesday March 21,

2018 at the age of 99. Rudy was born on December 19, 1918 to his father Jose Alcario and his mother Faustina Martinez in Pintada, NM. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, where he fought in the European African Campaign. He was injured in combat and awarded the purple heart, and later the Silver Star for valor in combat.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Marjorie and Annie Martinez; four brothers; three sisters; son Charles Martinez, son Patrick Martinez, son Carlos Gallegos, son Jerry Gallegos, son Rick Martinez, and son Johnny Martinez.

He is survived by his daughter Patricia Montoya, son Pete Gallegos, daughter Beverly (Gilbert) Anaya , son James (Della) Gallegos, daughter Gloria Apodaca, son Rudy (Gloria) Martinez, daughter Karen (Zoilo) Padilla, daughter Suzanne (Bob) Streit, daughter Marianne Baca, daughter Sylvia Nuanes, son Frank Gallegos, son Michael (Fredda) Martinez, son Ron (Dolores) Martinez; sister Amelia Wallace; 38 grandchild­ren; 66 greatgrand­children, and numerous great-great grandchild­ren.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Presbyteri­an Hospital for their help and support the family received during this difficult time. A special thanks to his daughter, Marianne Baca, who was his daily caregiver.

The Rosary will be held at Holy Rosary Parish on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 10:15 AM, with mass of Christian burial to follow immediatel­y after. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery following the burial mass. Pallbearer­s are Gilbert Anaya, Michael Martinez II, Justin Martinez, Vincent Garcia, Santiago Martinez and Brett Nuanes.
