I AM

most gratified to read where UNM Regent President Rob Doughty grew a set of cajones, seemingly overnight, in expressing his extreme displeasure to AD Eddie Nuñez and deputy AD Brad Hutchins for being misled with unrealistic budget projections over the past several years. I also hope he has come to his senses, and reconsidered his irresponsible suggestion that the athletic department deficit be forgiven by the university. Now it’s time for AD Nuñez to step up to the plate and recognize that Hutchins is a liability to the department, hand him his walking papers, and move forward to develop realistic budgets projections from here on out. — Bob, UNM Area

A 98-YEAR-OLD

nun (Sister Jean) was the neutralizer of the millions of dollars more Tennessee and K-State have in their men’s hoop budgets, compared to Loyola of Chicago. Priceless!!! — NM bred

BEFORE THE

trade deadline (Easter Sunday), let’s trade Archbishop Wester and a priest to be named later for Sister Jean. She’ll stay clear of politics and maybe get us to the Final Four! — Rich, Corrales

IT DOESN’T

take much research to understand the sensationalism of local media hacks. There are 346 Division I athletic programs; 24 of them operate in the black. The other 322 all receive funding from their respective states and main campuses in order to continue existing. Furthermore, while I’m opposed to UNM raising tuition and fees, this is a problem all across the country, and UNM’s athletic budget plays an extremely minor role. Placing those two articles right next to each other is manipulative journalistic editing. — Post-Left Lobo--ABQ

I SEE

Hope high school apologist pulling a Rudy C and whining that they didn’t get anybody in the all metro team. The best player in the state Menaul high school’s Michael Ou wasn’t mentioned either and would have started and been the star of any team in the 6-A hands down. I hope the Lobos or Aggies have seen him. Michael went to Menaul to get a great education and wasn’t recruited to play basketball like one Albuquerque private high school basketball team does. — B yaz

SHAME ON

Governor Susana who wouldn’t support our Lady Lobo Cross Country Team with $30K that earned a National Championship and brought more honor and pride to our university and state than she ever has! — Razor
