Yvonne Ferran, age 78, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018. She was taken way too soon and had many more years and memories to make. She was born in Valliant, OK on September 30, 1939. In her youth, she was the cotton-picking champion of McCurtain County, OK. At age 17 she moved to Oklahoma City where she met her future husband, Manuel. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 20, 2017. She and Manuel lived several places in the early years of their marriage. During these early years, she was a highly sought after executive secretary for both the US Forest Service and the CIA. Upon Manuel attaining his PhD in Economics, they decided to extend their family and Yvonne focused on home and children. She owned and operated Insta-Tune, an automotive repair shop, for 25 years, much to Manuel’s delight. She was an avid bowler, even achieving the high game for the entire state of NM in 1976 with a score of 289. She enjoyed playing games with her family and friends, thrived on gardening (her flowers were her pride and joy), loved playing with her two little dogs, Velvet and Pearl, and in the last few years she looked forward to her weekend BINGO.

She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel on November 11, 2017. She is survived by her children, Celene Barela and husband, Mark, Brad Ferran and wife, Jackie, Christine Fietek and husband, Dave; grandchildren, Ashley DeLayo and husband, David, Erica Barela and partner, Jason, Adam Barela and partner, Ashley, Logan Ferran and wife, Cassandra, Annika Fietek and boyfriend, Cruz, and Carter Fietek; great-grandchildren, Ava, Kevin, and Levi DeLayo; sisters, Imogene Barnard, Wanda Bradley and husband, Max, and Helen Foglesong; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Trujillo and Gennie Kennedy; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

She passed peacefully at home with her family surrounding her in love. She will be deeply missed every single day by those of us that loved her so. Life will never, ever be the same but she will always live on in our hearts and our memories. We love you, Mama! Tell Daddy hello, give him a kiss and tell him we miss him too!

Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2018 from 5:30 6:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Memorial at 6:00 p.m. and reception to follow at FRENCH – University.
