Victor V. Torres passed away on March 29th 2018 at age 74, in Tijeras, NM surrounded by his loving family.

He was raised in Albuquerqu­e off of Broadway SE. He served in the US Navy from 1961-1967, retired from General Electric after 26 years as a Project Manager. During his retirement he enjoyed golfing with his close friends and fishing with his grandson’s.

He is survived by his beloved wife Betty Torres of 55 years; his children, Victor Michael Torres and Eloise, Valerie Torres and Jim, Michelle Lesperance and her husband Matt; grandchild­ren, Melissa, Christophe­r, Tiffany, Brittney, Courtney, Kyle, and Ryan and five great- granddaugh­ters. He is also survived by his sister’s Charlotte Sanchez, Cipree Pacheco, Gloria Sanchez and lots of loving nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, NM. Rosary at 10:00am followed by Mass at 10:30am.

Elmer Semones, 83, a longtime resident of Albuquerqu­e, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2018.

Elmer was born in Kerens, West Virginia, the youngest of 15, and one of his favorite pastimes was attending his large family reunions and visiting with his many siblings and countless nieces and nephews. He graduated from Elkins High School, where he lettered all four years in football. Elmer enlisted in the USAF and was stationed at Manzano AFB. He met his future wife, Theresa Gallegos, in Grants and the two were later married in Santa Fe. They settled in Albuquerqu­e and started their family. In 1959, Elmer began a long and rewarding career as an electricia­n at the Ideal Cement plant in Tijeras.

Elmer enjoyed all sports, fly fishing on the San Juan River, golfing, hot air ballooning, and was an avid reader. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, the numerous open house parties he and Theresa hosted at their home, and his willingnes­s to help those in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 13 of his 14 siblings, and his beloved wife Theresa. He is survived by his daughter, Dee Dee Semones and Steve Rainey of Tucson, AZ; sons, Richard and Michael, both of Albuquerqu­e; daughter, Donna Semones of Livermore, CA; his grandchild­ren, Julie Martin, Chance Semones, Jeremy and Jessica Foulds; as well as his sister, Ruth Gainer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held on April 7th, from 2-6, at the Jewish Community Center, located at 5520 Wyoming Blvd NE. The family will be hosting a pot-luck, so feel free to bring a favorite dish. Please note, that out of respect for our friends at the JCC , pork and shellfish dishes are not permitted.

Elmer will be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery in Santa Fe, alongside Theresa, in a private ceremony.
