Helen A. Gomez

May 17, 1926 – March 25, 2018 Helen Aurelia Gomez passed away at age 91 on Sunday, March 25, 2018, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Helen was born in Socorro and moved to Albuquerque in 1965. She earned an Associate Degree from UNM and worked for the NM Department of Labor as a Tax Examiner for 24 years, retiring in 1994. After retirement, Helen volunteered for 22 years at Restoration Ministries, feeding the homeless.

Helen is survived by her sister, Emma Leyba; daughter, Lavern Gallegos, her husband Frank and daughters, Amanda and fiance Francisco, and Delainey; son, Simon (Sonny) Gomez, Jr., his wife Roseann and children Tammy, Simon III, Natasha and husband Caleb, and Keith; and daughter, Naomi Johnson, her husband Steven and children Victoria and Antonio. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren.

Above all else, Helen was a Christian and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and peacefully resides with him in her heavenly home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to help feed the hungry.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 3 at Daniel’s Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho. Memorial gath ering/family visitation at noon, services at 1 and burial at 2, with a reception to follow. See Daniel’s Family website for more details.
