Mayor lauds state’s film talent, incentives and infrastructure
‘The Goldfinch’ will be filming with Nicole Kidman and Ansel Elgort
A Pulitzer Prize-winning novel adaptation is coming to film in New Mexico.
According to the New Mexico Film Office, production for the film “The Goldfinch” will be filmed in Albuquerque through mid-April.
“Our hardworking film industry is just one of the many reasons Albuquerque continues to be a top film destination,” Mayor Tim Keller said in a statement. “We’re grateful to have ‘The Goldfinch’ filming here in our city.”
The film is from Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Amazon Studios.
“We’re excited to welcome another impressive production to New Mexico,” said Film office Director Nick Maniatis. “New Mexico’s diverse and beautiful landscapes, our depth of talent and infrastructure, and our powerful film incentives make our state perfect for film production.”
According to the Internet Movie Database, “Goldfinch” is the story of Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker who miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Decker is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend.

Elgort, Finn Wolfhard, Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Wilson and Denis O’Hare.
The production will employ 173 New Mexico crew members, six New Mexico actors and about 350 New Mexico background talent workers, according to the state Film Office.
The drama is being directed by British Academy Film Award-winner John Crowley.
It is produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson under their Color Force banner. Mari Jo Winkler-Ioffreda and Sue Kroll are serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by Oscar nominee Peter Straughan, based on the novel by Donna Tartt, which spent 30 weeks on The New York Times’ best-seller list.
The film is scheduled for an Oct. 11, 2019, release. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. Amazon has exclusive U.S. streaming video and pay-TV rights.
