‘FUTURE’ RESTS ON faith

Trust in God made Jordan Feliz grow more confident in his writing

Jordan Feliz is starting to feel the pressure of success.

It can be difficult to handle, yet the 29-year-old Christian musician is keeping positive.

He recently released his current album, “Future.” “To be honest, the process for this album was a lot more stressful,” he says during a recent interview. “Going into this record, there was a lot of pressure on me because my previous records have done so well. I felt a pressure. The first couple months of writing were really hard. I didn’t think I could create something as good as I created before.”

And so the pressure set in.

“I had gone to this place where I was filling my head with lies,” he says. “What were people going to say about the new music? So I reached out to a few friends to co-write. And I began to discover the journey I was on.”

Feliz soon discovered that instead of worrying about what people think, he would put his trust in God and let everything unfold.

He says the record was born because he made peace with the fact that he doesn’t know what his future holds.

“I began to trust in myself more,” he says. “I think the record is about trusting in God more and having faith. There’s something beautiful there that when you trust enough in the Lord, you feel a freedom like no other.”

Feliz’s career began in 2006 with the band A Current Affair.

But in 2015, he took the giant leap and began a solo career, which has fared very well.

“I’ve seen myself grow in a way that I’ve become confident in the man I am today,” he says. “I’ve also learned over the course of my life that timing is everything. Life doesn’t always happen the way we expect it to. I’ve been learning that it’s not done in an instant. We have to trust in the Lord that things will be alright.”

Feliz says “Future” is about where he is at in life right now.

It’s inspired by life and he hopes it resonates with audiences.

“This record is just chock-full of story. Every single song,” he says. “It’s kind of me taking a piece of my life, my heart, my beliefs, and my trust in God and just giving them to people. And hopefully they’ll hold onto the message and learn to trust God even more through it.”
