- JOURNAL STAFF REPORT

A memorial service for Jennifer Riordan, the Albuquerque woman who died Tuesday after an in-flight accident on a Southwest Airlines plane, will be held this weekend at the University of New Mexico.

The service for Riordan, who was a UNM alumna, will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Popejoy Hall, according to a tweet by the university.

“We appreciate the outpouring of support from the community, it truly touches our hearts,” the Riordan family wrote in a statement. “We know there are many in the community who want to celebrate Jennifer.”

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The hall holds nearly 2,000 people. “We are fortunate to have called Jennifer a friend, a colleague, a pillar of our community, an outstanding alumnae … a Lobo,” the UNM Alumni Association posted on

its Facebook page Wednesday. Riordan sat on the association’s board.

Riordan, 43, was a vice president of community relations for Wells Fargo’s New Mexico operations and served in multiple volunteer roles.

The mother of two graduated from UNM with a communications degree in 1999 and previously worked as the media relations manager at UNM Hospital.

“She will be forever missed by her Lobo family,” Dr. Paul Roth, chancellor for the Health Sciences Center, said in a statement sent soon after the news of Riordan’s death Tuesday.

Parking for the service will be in Lot A and the parking structure next to Popejoy Hall.
