1940-2018 Corrine G. Sedillo, age 77, a resident of Belen,

NM, passed away on Sunday, April

22, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

She loved her family and was passionate about serving her community. Corrine started her career in Washington D.C. as a legal secretary for Tom Morris, US Congressma­n for the State of New Mexico. She ultimately returned to her hometown of Belen to serve as a legal secretary for Filo M. Sedillo, Esq. Corrine later became a court reporter for the Honorable Judge Filo M. Sedillo, Judge Mayo T. Boucher and Judge John W. Pope, for the Thirteenth Judicial District in Valencia County. She spent twenty years as an active member and Chairman of the Belen School Board. Corrine’s passion for education also included her dedication to secure funding for the UNM Valencia Campus, where she served as an active member of the Advisory Board. In addition to her fierce advocacy for education, Corrine will also be remembered as a loyal and active supporter of the Democratic Party. Her passion for education and politics was superseded only by her enduring love, passion and pride for her family, especially for her children and grandchild­ren. Corrine’s intelligen­ce, character and zest for life were hallmarks of her uncompromi­sing personalit­y. Corrine never met a stranger…

She was preceded in death by her husband, Filo M. Sedillo Jr; her parents, Juan and Lugarda Gabaldon; her brothers, Gillie, Milton, George, Billy and Baby Alex Gabaldon; her sisters, Felice Prevot, Annie Gallegos and Mercy Ethridge; and her brothers-in-law, Joe Gallegos, Leon Prevot, Tony James and Raul A. Sedillo.

Corrine is survived by her two loving children, Filo III and his wife, Francine and Antonio and his wife, Paula; her loving grandchild­ren, Emily, Juan and Olivia Sedillo; her brother, Eugene and his wife, Gloria; her sisters, Dolly Apodoca and her husband, Hank, Loretta Sanchez and her husband, Jerry; her sisters-in-law, Lala Gabaldon, Geraldine Gabaldon, Diane Sedillo, Sonia James, one surviving aunt, Julia Silva and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

All services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 11:00 A.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. with Father Clement Niggel officiatin­g. Interment will be at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception at Our Lady of Belen Parish Hall. Pallbearer­s will be, Charles Gabaldon, Frank Buonauro III, Gary Gabaldon, Gregory Gabaldon, Janet Sanchez, Kenny Gallegos, Mark Prevot, Michael Gabaldon and Steve Ethridge. Honorary Pallbearer­s will be Corrine’s surviving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Corrine’s name to the St. Mary’s School, 101 N. 10th St., Belen NM 87002, specifical­ly for developmen­t of the “New School.”
