Betty Cobey Senescu

Betty Cobey Senescu, June 6, 1925-April 14, 2018, passed peacefully having lived a long, vigorous and fulfilling life right until the end. Her son Alan Senescu and daughter Cobey Senescu were at her side.

She was preceded in death by son Alexander and husband, Robert A. Senescu M.D.

As a resident of Albuquerqu­e for 54 years Betty was active in civic and political affairs. She served on the city Landsmarks Commission 1978-81 and was president of the Alb. Conservati­on Assoc. 78-80. She also had a successful Real Estate career.

A graduate of Wellesley College 1947 she did her post graduate and Doctoral work at UNM with a PHD in English Literature. Publicatio­ns include the NM Independen­t, Tennis West and NM Magazine. She was even an Asst. Art Editor for Vogue Magazine in 1952. She was extremely well read and enjoyed book clubs as well as bridge circles and was rather talented artist as well. She traveled widely throughout her long and full life. Independen­t and socially active until the end. She still drove her own car at 92.

Betty will be fondly remembered for her grace and intelligen­ce and those that knew her can be considered part of her much larger family.
