Dockal’s goal lifts Philadelph­ia past D.C. United

CHESTER, Pa. — Borek Dockal scored the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute, and the Philadelph­ia Union beat D.C. United 3-2 on Saturday.

Dockal blasted a right-footed shot from a narrow angle past goalkeeper Steve Clark, who reeled backward as the ball went above his head. It was Dockal’s first career MLS goal and the Union (2-3-2) held on from there.

Two minutes earlier, Darren Mattocks tied it at 2-all for D.C. United (1-4-2) with a leaping right-footed stab volley to finish Zoltan Stieber’s diagonal cross.

Stieber gave United the early lead with a left-footed shot in the seventh minute.

Ilsinho leveled it for the Union at in the 37th minute, and C.J. Sapong gave Philadelph­ia a 2-1 lead in the 60th.

The Union’s three goals doubled their total output for the season.

ATLANTA UNITED 4, IMPACT 1: In Atlanta, Miguel Almiron and Kevin Kratz each scored a pair of goals to rally Atlanta United (6-1-1) past Montreal

(2-6-0).

Almiron tied it at 1-all for Atlanta (6-11) with a penalty kick in the 70th minute that slipped through despite a deflection off goalkeeper Evan Bush. Chris Duvall conceded the penalty with a handball in the area.

Kratz entered as a substitute in the 74th minute and gave Atlanta the lead in the 78th with a free kick into the left corner.

FIRE 2, TORONTO FC 2: In Toronto, Alan Gordon scored the equalizer in second-half injury time, and the Chicago Fire (2-3-2) rallied for a draw against Toronto FC (1-4-1).

Bastian Schweinste­iger had the other goal for the Fire. Jonathan Osorio and Victor Vazquez scored for Toronto.

With Chicago trailing 2-0, Schweinste­iger’s header off Diego Campos’ corner kick got past Alex Bono in the 69th minute.

Gordon put home the rebound off Schweinste­iger’s shot to pull the Fire even in the dying seconds.

CREW 2, EARTHQUAKE­S 1: In Columbus, Ohio, Mike Grella scored in the 84th minute and the Columbus Crew (4-3-2) snapped a four-game winless streak with a win over San Jose (1-4-2).

Pedro Santos’ cross skirted past San Jose’s Magnus Eriksson and connected with Grella, who cut it back and slotted one home inside the near post. Grella entered as a substitute in the 65th minute.

REVOLUTION 1, SPORTING KC 0: In Foxborough, Mass., Teal Bunbury scored his fourth goal in five matches and Matt Turner had four saves to help New England (4-2-2) beat Sporting Kansas City (5-2-2).

It was the third shutout of the season for Turner.

MINNESOTA UNITED 2, DYNAMO 1: In Minneapoli­s, Ibson Barreto da Silva and Darwin Quintero each scored to help Minnesota United (3-5-0) beat Houston (2-3-2) and end a four-game skid.

Ibson redirected a cross by Miguel Ibarra to give Minnesota (3-5-0) a 2-1 lead in the 70th minute.
