Comcast Cares Day successful

More than 3,400 Comcast employees and their families, friends and community partners rallied together to volunteer at 11 projects throughout 10 cities in New Mexico during the 17th annual Comcast Cares Day. As part of Comcast Cares Day, volunteers worked on a variety of projects including indoor and outdoor painting at Grant Middle School in Albuquerqu­e, collected and sorted food for the hungry in Gallup and Santa Fe, created a mural for the Western New Mexico University Miller Library in Silver City and much more.

Comcast volunteers worked at the following locations during Comcast Care Day. They are:

Albuquerqu­e: Grant Middle School — More than 400 Comcast volunteers helped improve the school by doing interior painting, cleaning up and painting the basketball and tether ball playground area, landscapin­g and improving the school’s community garden.

Deming: Pit Park — More than 300 Comcast volunteers cleaned up and improved Pit Park.

Farmington: Berg Park — More than 75 Comcast volunteers worked together to plant willow trees in the park, cleaned the park, and improved the trails.

Gallup: Gallup Community Pantry — More than 75 Comcast volunteers helped collect food for hungry families in Gallup.

Las Cruces: Hermosa Heights Elementary School — more than 1,000 Comcast volunteers improved and beautified the school campus. Projects included painting, general cleanup, and more.

Portales: Portales Recreation Center — more than 300 Comcast volunteers helped improve the facility with new paint and carpet in the movie area, and a new sign.

Raton: Raton Recreation Education Council — more than 200 Comcast volunteers improved the baseball and softball fields at the Ration Recreation Center.

Santa Fe: The Food Depot — More than 250 Comcast volunteers helped feed hungry residents in Santa Fe as they assisted with food sorting and organizing.

Silver City: Mimbres Region Arts Council & WNMU Miller Library — more than 1,000 Comcast

volunteers created tiles featuring quotes from their favorite books and installed them into a mural at Western New Mexico University’s Miller Library.

sTucumcari: Columbus Club — More than 150 Comcast volunteers painted the Columbus Club building and cleaned up around the club.

sTucumcari: Quay County Little League — More than 250 Comcast volunteers worked together to improve the Quay County Little League field.
