The Davis New Mexico Scholarship program has announced 26 high school seniors from Santa Fe and Albuquerque who will receive full four-year scholarships to a partner college.

“These students are the latest class in this fast growing scholarship, which now supports 82 students from Northern New Mexico who are the first in their families to earn a four-year college degree,” according to a news release from the program.

The program, which boasts a 98 percent retention rate among its scholars so far, is funded by the Shelby Cullom Davis Charitable Fund and its Trustee Andrew Davis. The Davises last year made a three-year $11.6 million commitment to fund 100 scholars to and through college.

The Davis partner colleges are the University of Portland, St. Edward’s University, University of Denver, Loyola Marymount University, Lawrence University and Southwestern University.

“This is about possibility,” Andrew Davis said in a statement. “This is about what these students do when they come back home and demonstrate to their communities that it is possible to go to college, that it is possible to successfully navigate college, and that it is possible to improve not only their neighborhoods but also the world.”
