Leslie Silva, departed this life on

May 7, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with lung diseases. She now rests peacefully with her Lord and Savior. Les was a devoted wife, a loving "mom" to her dog Daisy, and a caring aunt, cousin, sister, animal lover, and friend to all who knew her. Les was, proudly, also among the very first female locomotive engineers hired by the Santa Fe Railway.

Born and raised in Winslow, AZ, Leslie was preceded in death by her parents; Ralph and Helen Otero, also of Winslow, AZ. She is survived by her husband Greg, her dog Daisy, and numerous family members and friends.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will follow later in a private ceremony. We would like to extend our gratitude to all of the following kind and caring people who were so helpful for so long: Dr. David Schneider; the doctors and staff of Chest Medicine of New Mexico; the doctors and staff of the New Mexico Cancer Center; the people of the Intermediate Care Unit at Lovelace, especially Angelique, Jennifer, and Patricia; the people of Kindred Hospice, especially Susan and Melanie; the Cremation Society of New Mexico, especially Lisa; the people of French’s Mortuary.

God bless and thank you all for your efforts to help Les go in dignity. You helped her pass the way she lived.

You are whole again. Breathe deeply and freely. Sleep comfortably. Rest in peace.

“I shall see you again And then you will be joyful And no one will rob you of your

joy.” John 16:22
