Jan Lewis Nethers
It is with great sadness to announce that Jan Lewis Nethers,
78 passed away on 17, May 2018 after battling cancer. Jan was born in Newark, Ohio on 5, November
1939 to Raymond Jacob and Ruth Holden Wikle Nethers. Jan will be remembered for his compassion, kindness, and humor. Jan provided comforting support for many family members and friends, and sharing many moments of fun. Jan joined the US Navy after graduating from High School in Albuquerque, NM. He served his country as a submarine sailor on both conventional and nuclear submarines between 1958 and 1968. He specialized in radar, sonar, radio, and inertial navigation systems. In 1972, he and his family moved to Farmington.
Jan worked at PNM-San Juan Station. While there, he developed software for power plant system control. In 1985, he was worked with Xytec Corporation, developing automation software for industry. In 1994, Jan started his own business, Application Design Engineering continuing to provide automated solutions, holding 3 patents. His service to his country and professional work allowed him to travel around the world. Jan loved the wilderness and shared that love and appreciation with his children, extended family and friends. He constructed his own house using his various skills. This home in the backwoods of southwestern Colorado was Jan’s paradise. Jan is preceded in death by his mother and father, and brother. He is survived by his ex-wife and life time friend Helen and husband-in-law Lonnie Bamert; his children Randy (Gloria) Nethers, and Debbie Nethers (Peter Houde); grand-children: Solomon Nethers and Katelyn Houde; brother Frank (Sally); nieces, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
