SPORTS SPEAK UP!

WHAT AN EPIC game 7 between Cleveland and Boston. Prior to this season, I was convinced that MJ was the GOAT, but no more. LeBron has ascended to the No. 1 position and I’ll tell you why: MJ would not have taken this year’s Cavs team to the finals because there is no Scottie Pippen caliber player on the Cavs. Secondly, LeBron could guard MJ, but conversely, MJ could not, under any circumstances, guard LeBron. LeBron is a 6-foot-9, 270-pound, once in a generation, freak of nature. Tell me I’m wrong, Sports Speak Up! Family. — George Scott Who is the greatest alltime NBA player? BOTH NBA GAMES

WERE RIGGED and I will never watch another NBA game again! There were numerous intentional and flagrant (not in the technical sense) fouls made by both Cleveland and Golden State in the third quarters of both Game 7s. The NBA’s motive is clear, it wanted and needed to make billions of dollars off of a rematch between Cleveland and GSW. They instructed — no, ordered —the 3 man ref crews to ignore fouls made by either GWS or Cleveland to that end . ... The result is intolerable to any intelligent viewer. — NBA Fan NO MORE

HERE’S A SOLUTION to the UNM athletic deficits: Legalize sports betting, with the proviso that all net proceeds be used for high school and college athletic programs. With the millions the state will rake in, we can upgrade facilities, hire and keep great coaches, not cut programs, and encourage intramural and varsity sports to keep our kids in great shape. Those who want to bet on pro sports will do so whether we have a law or not; we might as well use the profits to ... benefit our schools, universities, and youth. — Rich, Corrales

NM OLD TIMER writes that Bob King in his 4th season had the Lobos playing in a new arena seating 14,381. It was in King’s 5th season. — Fran

SO SIMON … thinks UNM should scrap Lobo Baseball because of one bad season? By that thinking both Basketball & Football, among others, would have been history years ago. One bad season should not judge the future of any sport but losing seasons happen and excrement occurs — live with it! BTW, I do not advocate ending any of the sports programs at UNM, they can and should survive and here’s wishing all UNM Athletes the best. — John
