BASKETBALL: The University of New Mexico hoops team is coming north again this year. Lobos coach Paul Weir, his staff and players will be holding a camp for first- to eighth-graders June 23-24 at the Santa Fe Indian School Pavilion. FISHING: Sipapu’s free Saturday fly fishing lessons begin this Saturday. Certified fly fishing instructor­s from Solitary Angler provide hands-on lessons covering fundamenta­ls, including how the fly rod, reel and line work together, how to cast overhand and backhand, and how to shoot line out and strip line in. OUTDOORS: The Parajito Mountain Summerfest is coming up June 9, with live bands, liftserved hiking and biking, a disc golf tournament and plenty of other activities. Stuff starts happening at 9 a.m., with free shuttle transporta­tion from Los Alamos High School running every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

MORE OUTDOORS: The state Department of Game and Fish, along with the city of Las Vegas, will hold a free youth day June 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Harris Kids Pond. Archery, fishing and wildlife displays are on tap for the event. For more informatio­n, call 575-430-4212 or 505-629-2246.

STILL MORE HOOPS: Potential college basketball players will have a chance locally to display their talents when Northern New Mexico College holds the first Eagle Showcase Camp June 21-24 in Española. All varsity games will be played at the NNMC Eagle Memorial Sportsplex and regional college coaches are expected to be in attendance from the NAIA, NCJCAA, NCAA D2 and NCAA D3.
