Rudy Nelson Garcia

AGE: 47 RESIDENCE: La Cienega EDUCATION: Santa Fe High School graduate; two years at Phoenix Institute of Technology for Architectu­re & Design.

OCCUPATION: Santa Fe County legislativ­e liaison project manager and a Santa Fe County employee.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 27 years of government experience working as a public servant assisting Santa Fe County. Currently serving on the Santa Fe School Board of Education as board secretary; 10-plus years as a member of the Citizens Review Committee with Santa Fe Schools. Former board member of the Santa Fe Boys and Girls Club. Santa Fe Mountain Center Board member for 10 yearsplus. Founding member of the First Native American Intergover­nmental Summit.

The other two candidates in the June 5 Democratic primary did not answer a Journal questionna­ire. They are:

Donald H. Reece

RESIDENCE: Edgewood. Reece sent a statement that says in part:

“I am a life time resident of New Mexico and have years of experience in public entities. I am currently on my third year as an appointed commission­er on the Santa Fe County Health Policy & Planning Commission. I have been on the board of directors for the Make a Wish Program, the American Lung Associatio­n and other nonprofit organizati­ons.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Agricultur­al Education with a minor in Biology and Master’s Degree in Public Health. I am a retired employee of the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention, where I have 27 years of experience managing state-wide and nation-wide public health programs. I am a Veteran with 4 years’ active duty in the Air Force and 8 years with the New Mexico Army National Guard.
