IF I UNDERSTAND (T)itle IX math, all we need to do is delete 110 male athletes (that would be football) or add 110 females to new sports such as fencing, field hockey, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, pistol, rifle, rowing, and/or synchronized swimming. The fans are already lining up to see those sports. — jpb

UNM PRESIDENT Garnett Stokes holds a Ph.D and commands a salary of $400,000 a year. Athletic Director Eddie Nunez has a Master’s Degree and makes $300,000. Yet, neither individual feels confident in making decisions regarding their own Athletic Department. So, they hire a consultant at a cost of $53,000. In this case, the consultant is a former colleague of Ms. Stokes at Missouri. This looks like a lucrative “perk” to me. Wondering why UNM has a negative image in the community. — North Valley Wally THE RECENT New York owners of Paa-Ko (Ridge Golf Club) better hope the percentage of out of state golfers increases from 45 percent to 95 percent based on their new rates. People playing with their phones, talking to seatmates, taking a swig of beer, heading to the concessions. That the “everyone else” you mean?
