Dolores C. Aguilar

Age 63, Dolores went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 5, 2018 in Mansfield, TX during her fight with breast cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents Juan José and Maria de la Luz Chavez, son Jerome, brother-in-law Phil, and grandson Patrick. Dolores was born in Santa Fe, NM in April of 1954. She grew up in Ojo Caliente and El Rito NM, she then graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Santa Fe, N.M.

Dolores valued the pursuit of educational improvement. She received her Bachelor’s in Education from New Mexico State University and her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Highlands University. She served as an associate superintendent for Peñasco Schools. She was also an administrator for University of New Mexico Valencia Campus as well as Jemez, Mesa Vista and Cuba Schools.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 36 years, Edward, daughter Marylou (Brian), beloved grandsons, Daniel (brother), Geraldine (sister), loving inlaws, cousins, dear to her heart, nieces and nephews, and long-time friends.

Her strong Roman Catholic faith carried her through life. It was her trust in God’s plan that led her to face each day with hope and joy.

Through her actions, she instilled honesty, faith, and sacrifice for those she loved. She spent the last five years living in New Mexico during the summer and in Texas during the school year to be near her grandsons.

The family wishes to thank all those who made the journey to visit her, and the loving caregivers who kept her comfortable. Memorial contributions can be made to an Educational Trust which her family has established for her grandsons.

Cremation for Dolores was carried out in Ft. Worth, TX. A Rosary will be held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Albuquerque, N.M. at 9:30 a.m. on June 25, 2018. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial services will take place in Ponderosa, N.M. at approximately 2:00 p.m. for Dolores and her son Jerome.
