George W. Coffman, Entrepreneur of Life Experiences, World Traveler, and Cubs Fan passed away peacefully on June 3, 2018. Born in Chicago on October 17,1932, he made a life for himself that was full of love and adventure. From chasing foul balls at Wrigley Field as a child, to climbing Mt. Fuji during his stint in the Army, to rafting the Grand Canyon for 8 days after he retired, he was always on the move. Sitting still was not part of his plan. He met and married the love of his life, Grace, raising 4 children together. He spent most of his working years in the Chicago Area, retiring from Benefit Services Group in Milwaukee where he was considered a real innovator in healthcare benefit management and delivery at a time when that was very rare.

After retirement, he moved to Albuquerque and volunteered in the community. He accumulated more than 1600 hours as an usher at Popejoy Hall, served on the Lovelace Advisory Board, and acted as an Ombudsman. As a world traveler, he visited more than 30 countries. He truly believed, and did his best to live in the present, learn from the past, and look towards the future. To celebrate his life, he leaves behind his beloved daughters; Cyndi Coffman (Fred Perez), Lynn (Bob) Iwicki, and Donna Galow (Scott Leimetter). He always felt that his greatest accomplishment was funding college educations for his cherished grandchildren; Blake and Korei Galow, Daniel and Bradley Iwicki, and Mateo, Emilio and Gracie Coffman. He is also survived by his sister Margo (Ron) Stasch, sister-in-law Phyllis (Ed) Endrihs, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alma Coffman, dear wife, Grace, and son, Kevin. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be remembered by many for his sense of humor, dedication to family, and adventurous spirit.

Services will be lead by Pastor George Swanson on Thursday, June 14th at 2:00 pm at Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3900 Wyoming Blvd, Albuquerque, NM 87111. Special thanks to the caregivers and residents at Hannett House for the friendship and assistance they provided during the last couple years of George’s life. Their time, effort, and level of care is greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers take a few minutes to make the world a better place; help someone less fortunate, smile at a stranger, hug your grandparents.
