Rito G. Mendez husband, father, grandfathe­r and brother peacefully passed away in his home in Las Cruces, NM. Rito will be forever be remembered by his wife and best friend Martha, and their precious daughters and grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. His two daughters; Carmen Munn and her husband Frasier and Laura Miller and her husband Curt. Grandchild­ren; Racheal, Andres, Andrew, Gabriela, Roman and Ricky. Great grandchild­ren; Olivia, Will, Gabriel and Charlotte.

Rito was born in Clovis, NM to Fred and Tillie Mendez. He was one of seven children. He married Martha Oct 16, 1964. They celebrated their 53rd anniversar­y in 2017. Rito will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. He is remembered with memories of laughter, generosity and the love for his family.

Rito and Martha started their life in Albuquerqu­e, NM where Rito worked for Albuquerqu­e Public School Schools. Soon, they moved their family to Peralta, NM, where Rito started his own business: Add & Type Service Co. After a few years, he began his 19-year career with the United States Postal Service, from which he retired. Rito also served in the Army during the Korean War era.

His retirement years consisted of camping and fishing trips with his grandchild­ren all over Northern NM. In between camping trips, you could find him at the casino playing poker. How he loved the game.

Services for Rito will be June 11, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Peralta, NM. Rosary at 10:00 a.m., Eulogy at 10:30 am and Mass at 11:00 a.m.
