Wanda Concannon, 95, passed away on Friday, June 8,

2018 following a brief illness. She was a beloved mother, wife, friend and neighbor. Wanda was born (January 9, 1923) and raised on a farm in the Panhandle of Oklahoma. After graduating from Rosston High School she moved to Garden City, Kansas to attend Junior College. After college and the end of WWII she married Herbert Concannon. In May of 1953 Wanda and Herbert moved from Garden City Kansas to Albuquerqu­e with their four children and a fifth child would be born in 1960. They moved into the Hoffmantow­n neighborho­od. Wanda and two of her children still reside at the family home. Wanda is survived by her children, Michael, Patricia, Kyle all of Albuquerqu­e, Midge McKee of Glendale, AZ; and daughter-in-law, Gretchen Concannon of Albuquerqu­e. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, and her son, Gary. Also surviving her include six grandchild­ren, Brandi Zaslansky and her husband, Oren of San Diego, CA, Kristin Quigley of Boulder, CO, Brett Concannon and his wife, Diane of Albuquerqu­e, Vincent McKee of Glendale, AZ, Britany Sylvester and her husband, Billy of Albuquerqu­e, and Megan McKee of Portland, OR. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchild­ren, Clare and Addison Quigley of Boulder, CO, Isaiah Lea, Zeke and Eli Concannon of Albuquerqu­e, Ilaya and Aeson Sylvester of Albuquerqu­e, Safin and Stellan Zaslansky of San Diego, CA, and Tristan McKee of Glendale, AZ. She is also survived by her nephews, Jerry Denchfield and wife, Zel of Sun City, CA, Ron Denchfield and wife, Pat of Half Moon Bay, CA, Keith Denchfield and wife, Carolyn of Oakley, KS, Charles McKinney and wife, Gloria of Englewood, KS; her niece, Vicky Shields of Key West, FL; nephew, Craig Concannon and wife, Susan of Beliot, KS; niece, Debbie Traster of Wichita, KS; and her sisters in-law, Ginne Concannon of Georgetown, TX and Sharon Concannon of Hugoton, KS; and many other extended family members. All will remember Wanda for her strength, know-how having grown up on a farm in the Panhandle of Oklahoma during the dustbowl days of her countless stories of having to overcome the trials and tribulatio­ns of the times. Moving to Albuquerqu­e brought many new challenges with raising five children and being active in many community activities including the Bernalillo County Republican­s in which she was active for several decades of NM politics. She also maintained her lifetime membership in the Finney County Chapter of Eastern Star. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
