Washington wins wild one in 10th

-

Before Sunday, Washington was the only team in the tradition-rich Pac-12 to never make it to the College World Series.

The Huskies finally are going to Omaha.

Kaiser Weiss’ bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Washington a 6-5 win over host Cal State Fullerton in a wild Game 3 of their NCAA Tournament best-of-three super regional.

The Huskies join fellow Pac12 member Oregon State and North Carolina in the CWS starting Saturday.

Mississippi State and Vanderbilt also played a Game 3 on Sunday night. North Carolina and Oregon State won their super regionals Saturday. TEXAS 4, TENNESSEE TECH 2: In Austin, Texas, All-American Kody Clemens drove in two runs, one with his 23rd home run of the season, and Texas defeated Tennessee Tech on Sunday to even their NCAA Tournament best-of-three super regional series at one victory apiece.

Game 3 is today. Texas (41-21) starter Chase Shugart (6-3) allowed just one run and two hits (he walked five) before leaving after six innings. Shugart picked up a win and a save as Texas won the regional it hosted to advance to the super regional. SOUTH CAROLINA 8,

ARKANSAS 5: In Fayetteville, Ark., LT Tolbert hit a grand slam to help South Carolina keep its season alive with a win over national No. 5 seed Arkansas in the second game of their NCAA super regional.

Tolbert’s home run highlighted a five-run fifth inning for the Gamecocks (37-25), who will face the Razorbacks in a deciding third game today — with the winner advancing to next week’s College World Series. AUBURN 3, FLORIDA 2: In Gainesville, Fla., Auburn got a number of clutch performances from freshmen with its season on the line at Florida.

And one huge hit from a fifth-year senior.

Luke Jarvis’ RBI single in the bottom of the ninth gave Auburn a victory over the topseeded Gators in their best-ofthree super regional. It set up a decisive game tonight, with the winner advancing to the College World Series.

Florida (46-19), the defending national champion, hasn’t lost consecutive games at home since April 2017.

Tanner Burns and Cody Greenhill, two freshman AllAmerican pitchers, held the Gators in check throughout the day. Burns gave up five hits and an earned run in six innings, and Greenhill (6-2)

surrendered a solo home run over the final three frames.

DUKE 11, TEXAS TECH 2: In Lubbock, Texas, Max Miller drove in four runs and Duke avoided elimination at Texas Tech to force a deciding Game 3 in their super regional.

Game 3 is today, with the winner advancing to the College World Series. Texas Tech (43-18) is trying to get to Omaha for the third time in five seasons. Duke’s last CWS appearance was in 1961.
