Isotopes are home for seven games beginning tonight

It’s been a win-some, lose-some season for the Albuquerque Isotopes so far in 2018.

They begin a seven-game homestand tonight against Memphis at 32-32. They’ve never yet heated up beyond a four-game win streak, never cooled off beyond a fourgame losing streak.

The Isotopes are 5½ games behind Salt Lake in the Pacific South Division of the Pacific Coast League.

The Redbirds (38-27), the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, lead the American South Division. Memphis is one of the eight teams in the PCL’s American Conference that make it to Albuquerque only every other year.

The Isotopes for now will have to do without slugging catcher Tom Murphy, promoted Tuesday to the parent Colorado Rockies. Murphy was hitting .289 with 16 homers before his call-up. His start Tuesday night in Philadelphia was his his 45th career big-league game.

Outfielder Mike Tauchman, who has bounced between Colorado and Albuquerque in 2018, is coming down in Murphy’s place.

Among the promotions are Superhero Night on Friday and postgame fireworks Saturday and Sunday.
