LOS ANGELES — Bartolo Colon recorded his 2,500th career strikeout.

The 45-year-old right-hander retired Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Max Muncy in the first inning on Tuesday night.

That made Colon the 34th pitcher in history to reach the 2,500th plateau, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

He allowed eight earned runs in 3⅓ innings though and remains tied with Hall of Famer Juan Marichal for most wins by a pitcher from the Dominican Republic with 243.

Now in his 21st major league season, Colon left the game in the fourth inning with the Rangers trailing 7-2. He gave up home runs to Joc Pederson, Muncy and Yasiel Puig.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch is making a special addition to his All-Star coaching staff next month for baseball’s summer classic in Washington: Retired Astros first base coach Rich Dauer will be in uniform and assisting Hinch.

“Just like old times,” Hinch said in Oakland as the World Series champions opened a three-game series with the Athletics.

Last November, Dauer was rushed to a hospital immediately after Houston’s victory parade to celebrate its first World Series title and he survived a difficult surgery on a blood clot in his brain.
