Jolan Zold, 93 of Albuquerqu­e, NM, and formerly of Las Vegas, NM, passed away peacefully in her home on June 13, 2018. She is predecease­d by her husband Dr. Laszlo Zold. Jolan is survived by her four children Laszlo Jr., Tamas, Ildiko, and Mari, and her four grandchild­ren Megan, Tommy, Erica and Lisa and her first great grandson Jackson Robert.

Jolan was born in Cluj, Romania on August 29, 1924 and Married ’Doc’ in 1951. She escaped from her homeland following the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 with Laci, their three children and Laci’s mother. They immigrated to the United States as political refugees arriving in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1957 and establishi­ng a life for themselves in this new land they would come to love and call home.

The focus of Joli’s life was always her familyabov­e all else. She possessed a quiet strength and unusual calm that proved sustaining and nurturing during difficult times. Her love would be an unwavering foundation of strength and support for her family. She was known for her gentle, warm nature and her compassion­ate, undying commitment to those she loved. She will be most remembered for her tenderness, sweet smile, grace, and of course her wonderful homemade cooking. Her lasting legacy will be her unconditio­nal love for her family. She will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held at Rogers Funeral home in Las Vegas, NM on Tuesday the 19th at 1 p.m. A reception will follow.
