Marian MeyerAcker­man peacefully entered life on June 10, 2018 surrounded by her family in Las Cruces, NM. She was born on February 3, 1924 to Charles Meyer and Eloisa BacaMeyer in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Marian experience­d a happy childhood growing up in her beloved Las Vegas recalling fond memories of walking thru the Plaza Park, down Bridge Street to the Gallinas River with her sister and two of her childhood friends. She went on to attend Loretto Academy in Santa Fe and returned back to complete her last two years of high school at Immaculate Conception School in Las Vegas. She furthered her education at Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado and became an English Teacher. Her career as a teacher spanned over 30 years between Albuquerqu­e and West Las Vegas Public Schools, touching the lives of many thru her passion for teaching and involvemen­t with religious education at Immaculate Conception Parish. She was an active member in several choirs where she used her talent of singing to bring joy to many. She was also a writer of short stories which culminated in a book about her experience­s of culture and customs while growing up in Northern, NM. Her life reflected devotion to her family and a true spirituali­ty. In the presence of God, Marian has joined her parents, Charles and Eloisa Meyer; her daughter, Tamara Ackerman, her sons Anthony and Damian Ackerman, her husband Frank Ackerman, her sister Consuelo Meyer-Choinard, her brother Charles Meyer Jr. her sister-in-law Consuelo Meyer and her two brother-in-laws Roger and Tony Ackerman. Marian will be forever remembered by her daughter Tanya Ackerman, her five grandchild­ren Marco and Cristalina Diosdado, Brian, Alexandria and Cristian Ackerman. Also by her brother Julius Meyer of Albuquerqu­e and her sister-inlaws, Paula Bogacz of Albuquerqu­e, Eda Mae Meyer of Phoenix, June Ackerman of Florida and many other relatives and friends. A Mass will be celebrated by Father George Salazar at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Santa Fe on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. followed by interment at the National Cemetery.
