Jeffrey Kent Darnell passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, 14 April 2018 due to having suffered massive strokes. He was born on July 19th 1961, in Boulder, Colorado, to Carlton H. and Ruth A. (Ogle) Darnell. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparen­ts, three uncles, two aunts, one step-son and one grand-niece. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Welborn of Los Alamos; daughter, Chloe Darnell of Los Alamos; and his parents of Albuquerqu­e. He is also survived by his brother, Randy and wife Dodie of Chilton, Wisconsin; sister, Valerie Darnell of Farmington, Utah; brother, David and wife Cinde of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Lisa and husband Ray Campbell of Newport News, Virginia; brother, Farnad Darnell of Silver Springs, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife, Nancy’s, children, Laura Mangan, Joe Mangan III, Jacki Jones and husband, Eric, and grandchild­ren Tymothy, Arianna, Anthony, and Ronald Mangan and Devon Jones, with all of whom he had a special relationsh­ip for many years. He is an Army veteran who learned Arabic and Syrian at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. He also spoke Farsi and Russian. He was a surveyor and tow truck owner /operator. He loved fly fishing and hiking and camping in the mountains of northern New Mexico. Jeff loved music from infancy and played the trombone in school bands. He especially loved making music with his daughter, Chloe, who played the guitar, while he played the harmonica. He also loved animals and they loved him and responded to him.

He has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 23rd, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel, 1967 18th Street, Los Alamos, NM, with Bishop Paul Johnson presiding and Randy Darnell officiatin­g.
