‘Midnight, Texas’ begins filming second season in Albuquerque
The supernatural — and human — characters of “Midnight, Texas” are returning to Albuquerque.
The New Mexico Film Office announced that the NBC series will be filming from mid-June through mid-September in Albuquerque.
“We’re very excited that New Mexico has been chosen as the site for the second season,” said Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “With our talented workforce, depth of infrastructure, and an expanded incentive for TV productions, we are an ideal location for TV shows of all genres.”
The supernatural thriller, which is based on the best-selling book series by Charlaine Harris (author of the novels that inspired “True Blood”), takes a journey into a remote Texas town where nothing is what it seems. In Midnight, being normal is strange and only outsiders fit in. It’s a mysterious safe haven for those who are different, a perfect place for anyone looking to hide from the outside world.
“I am stoked at the prospect of a second season of ‘Midnight, Texas,’ ” Harris said in a statement. “I can’t wait to revisit my favorite town to discover what its inhabitants have been up to the past few months. Now the viewers, who’ve been asking me questions daily, will have their reward.”
The first season premiered last summer and became the No. 1 drama in the ages 18-49 demographic.
The series stars François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa FitzHenley, Arielle Kebbel, Jason Lewis and Peter Mensah.
The series will be filmed in Albuquerque and housed at Albuquerque Studios. NBC built the entire town of Midnight in the back lot of the studios.
According to the film office, the production will employ approximately 400 New Mexico crew members, 40 New Mexico actors and approximately 1,600 New Mexico background talent.
The series will premiere in the fall.
